Also in all honesty, $30 is already too rich an asking price for a "old movie" Blu-ray nowadays with prices sinking like stones due to widespread sagging sales figures of catalog titles on the format. Sony, take note of Lionsgate's stacked Anniversary Edition Blu-ray of Evil Dead 2 coming this Tuesday for the kingly asking price of...about ten bucks. That's what Fright Night deserves, remake box office performance be damned...
For those still interested, I'm fairly certain it'll pop up as the first listing above Mysterious Island on this page on the pre-order date. It seems that because of the deal struck with Sony, this release can't have any new supplements beside an isolated score track (and trailers). Otherwise, SAE have announced a 1080p transfer with lossless English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and English subtitles. Yep, exactly what longtime fans have been waiting for...

Even if Fright Night gets the best Blu-Ray transfer out there, it doesn't warrant a $30 price tag. There are several excellent releases sitting on my shelf, stacked with extras, that cost a third of the asking price here. Do I pass it up based on principle, or give in and shell out $30 for one of my favorite films?

i think that movies that were shot over ten to fifteen years ago can only be remastered so much before it's just a waste of time... fright night will drop in price when the "remake" fades away... faraway!

I wouldn't say that, films even decades old were shot using the same film stock and processes used today by many modern films. Some mostly abandoned methods were actually better than what's the norm today, 70mm films like The Sound of Music and Lawrence of Arabia look astonishing for example.
Regardless film has far more "theoretical" resolution than even the current 1080p Blu-ray standard. Something like 6000 to 8000+ if film could be measured in pixels. This is why studios are scanning films at 2k, 4k, and even 8k resolutions for restoration and archival purposes and then downconverting the digital masters to 1080p for Blu-ray.
Their server crashed within 60 seconds of Fright Night pre-orders going live. =(
