Nothing on the VHS front this weekend, though I did see an extremely trashed copy of A.I.P./Troma's House on Tombstome Hill (Dead Dudes in the House). I found not one thing yesterday, it's been raining for the past three days, but I managed a few DVDs along with one very select Sega Genesis title. Both Midnite Movies selections have $3 Ollie's price tags while The Rockville Slayer (looks like I got suckered) and Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes have $3 stickers from Big Lots. So if you live in an area that has those chains, it might pay off to swallow your pride and venture into the asshole of retail amongst severely dented cans of Hormel Chili and piles of unwanted Paula Deen cookware for the possibility of picking up some cheap horror."El amanecer de los muertos" is Snyder's Dawn of the Dead in an all-Spanish cover from Universal. Dunno, thought it was weird enough to pick up, despite it being the R-rated full screen version. Serial Psychos is a six-flick set from Mill Creek with Blood Massacre (1991), "Thirteen" (actually City in Panic, 1986), Hip Hop Locos (huh?), Las Vegas Bloodbath (1989), I Hate You (2004), and "Slasher" (actually Blood Cult, 1985). Out of all of the Mill Creek horror sets (DVDAF listing), this is the best for its inclusion of three '80s SOVs. Blood Cult isn't particularly rare, but Don Dohler's Blood Massacre and David Schwartz's Las Vegas Bloodbath are still tough to track down on VHS. Both are terrible, but Massacre has regional charm from the late Baltimore Don of Nightbeast infamy while Bloodbath is stupidly disgusting. If you've ever seen that one shock video featuring some wigged out, bugged-eyed, and bare-chested dude cutting a fetus out of a pregnant woman and throwing it against a wall--you're witnessing Las Vegas Bloodbath.
Lastly, I found a copy of Splatterhouse 3 for the Genesis complete with instruction manual for two bucks. I thought it was a rare game, but I didn't know copies in the condition of the one I snagged today hover around $70 or above on Amazon and eBay. I've never had the pleasure of playing any of the three games in the series. Namco is apparently set to release the franchise into the next gen with a game for the 360 and PS3 later this year. Check out the official site and trailer below, rarely do I ever get excited about a video game, but this one looks right up my alley.

I wanted to buy a Turbografix 16 system 2 months ago just to buy the first game but some dude wanted to charge me $120! Apparently, the original game is available via download for the Wii but instead of red blood, characters spurt out blue blood. Lame-o maximus.
Dohler's BLOOD MASSACRE really needs to get a dvd release. They need to actually do a whole classy Dohler box set, really.
Re: Planet of Terror, I'm sure Splatterhouse is exactly the same as the Turbo Graphics 16 version, red blood and all.
As for Splatterhouse 3, it was my favorite one to rent as a kid.
