The Annihilators (1985)

Directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr.
84 Minutes / New World Pictures / Unmatted Full Frame

Let's go:

A. 'Nam vet gets killed by gang thugs in his corner shop.
B. His war buddies decide to clean up the streets.
C. Queue vigilante justice montage set to catchy tuneage.
D. The neighborhood likes 'em, the police are aware but can't quite get 'em on anything.
E. During a gang ambush, one of the good guys dies.
F. The remaining good guys set their own ambush and crush the gang.

THE END, hope you aren't sleeping.

At least this is more competent than American Commandos. The best thing about this is when a female shopper gets her blouse ripped open revealing her surprisingly nice rack. I'm fully aware that sounds sexist, but it's the truth. Bland action and acting coated in formulaic pap. Though sticking in Bronson or Norris as the war team's leader and investing in bloody squibs would have bumped this up several notches. Put Bronson and Norris in this flick and they would have had a Citizen Kane rival.

Film: 2.5/10
VHS Picture: 6/10
VHS Sound: 6/10
